Happy New Year and I’m ringing it in with a brand-spankin’ new Stitch Fix review. My first Fix of the new year was different as my usual stylist was out of the office. Take a look at my November 2017 Fix, here. My substitute stylist, Katherine, I’m just going to call her Kat, was a godsend. As a stay at home mom of 4 and somewhat aspiring fashionista in my own right, this fix was everything I wanted and more. I can’t wait to share my January 2018 Fix with you!
What is Stitch Fix?
Stitch Fix is an online styling service that delivers a truly personalized shopping experience, just for you. Fill out your Style Profile and a personal stylist will handpick pieces to fit your tastes, needs, and budget—and mail them directly to your door. Each box contains five items of a mix of clothes, shoes , and accessories for you to try on at home. Keep what you love, send the rest back in the prepaid USPS envelope that’s enclosed.
How does it work?
- Fill out your Style Profile: This helps us understand your size, style, shape, budget and lifestyle. Completing your profile should only take you about 10 minutes.
- Pick Your Delivery Date: Choose a date from the calendar. At the time your Stylist selects your items, you will be charged a $20 styling fee. (During November your styling fee is waived, schedule your first fix here) That $20 will be applied as a credit toward anything you keep from your shipment.
- Try everything on in the comfort of your home
- Buy what you like and return the rest
- Take three days to decide what you’ll purchase and what you’d like to send back. You’re only charged for items you choose to keep when you check out.
- Check out by logging into your account to pay for the items you want to keep. The $20 styling fee will be applied as credit toward any items you purchase. If you buy all five items, we’ll give you 25% off the entire purchase!
- Simply return the items you don’t want in our prepaid mailer and drop it into any USPS mailbox. Stitch Fix clients enjoy free shipping both ways as a benefit of using our service.
If you choose to receive recurring shipments, Stitch Fix will automatically schedule the delivery date for your next shipment. You can always choose an alternative date that better suits your needs or opt out of shipments entirely. Stitch Fix does not require a membership fee or a monthly subscription.
Carolina Jumpsuit
My love of jumpsuits and rompers JUST begin to happen and I’ve tried to steer clear of bodycon jumpsuits as I’m still carrying some extra weight from my last pregnancy. But that’s neither here nor there. My substitute stylist, Katherine wasn’t in the loop on that little note so she sent the Carolina Jumpsuit from Trina Turk ($328) in this fix. OMG! I love it. It was form fitting, but didn’t accentuate any of my problem areas. The removable tie belt made this a versatile piece. Personally, I’d only wear it on date night or to a dinner that required not so casual dress.
I added my peony Bardot faux fur jacket and dark blush Steve Madden ankle strap pumps. I kept the accessories minimal as I didn’t want to overwhelm the look with too much, so I added some rings and earrings I bought on sale from Payless and my “Happy” Jook and Nona necklace.
Harmony Leather Embroidered Slide Mule
I’ve never been a fan of slide mules, EVER! I always looked at them as “old people shoes” My opinion may or may not have changed slightly. Included in this fix, Harmony Leather Embroidered Slide Mule from Dolce Vita ($130), didn’t really change my mind about how I felt. The shoes are so comfy and the embroidery is amazing, but they’re just not practical for me. I’m a mom of 4 and I would rarely if ever wear these anywhere. They did, however, pair really well with a few more pieces from this fix.
Odelle Bomber Jacket
Of course, every girl needs a staple jacket that can be dressed up or worn every day and Kat must’ve known this is something that I was in need of because she included the Odelle Bomber Jacket from Bella Dahl ($158), in this fix. Also, the color couldn’t be more perfect! I’m a fan of neutrals, sometimes and this bomber jacket in hunter green will go great with a lot of other items I have in my closet currently.
This is a simple look, something that I would normally throw on every day and head straight out the door. A basic white tee, a pair of fitted destroyed jeans and my rider boots, I live for comfortable and quick.
Florence Coated Released Hem Skinny Jean & Riley Flutter Sleeve Wrap Blouse
Again another staple every woman needs in her closet, a good pair of skinny jeans, which is exactly what Kat gave me in this fix. She sent me the Florence Coated Released Hem Skinny Jean from DL1961 ($208). I tried on the jeans with my flutter sleeve wrap blouse and mules that I also received in this fix.
These jeans must’ve been made just to fit my body because they hugged every curve the right way. I love them! I’m always in search of the perfect pair of versatile skinny jeans and I got a pair in this fix.
I love wearing floral and pink is my favorite color so put them both together and you’ve got a match made in heaven for me. However, do not put pink, floral and ruffles together and expect me to fall in love with it. Kat nailed the color and the floral but when she sent me the Riley Flutter Sleeve Wrap Blouse from Collective Concepts ($58) in this fix, she kind of missed the mark.
I’m not a fan of the fit. I’m not even a fan of wrap shirts at all, but this one made me look pregnant and well we’re not going down that road again anytime soon. It made my problem areas more prominent and I just didn’t like that and the ruffles made me feel a lot older than I am.
What I Kept From My January 2018 Fix
After trying on all five items from my January 2018 Stitch Fix box, the decision was much easier than it usually is. Although my items were a bit pricier this month than they usually are I decided to keep 3 out of 5. I decided to keep the jumpsuit, the bomber jacket, and the skinny jeans. Although if you asked The Hubs he’d say I didn’t need to keep anything.
