Six books that changed my life. I’m a reader and I definitely have read more than six books that have changed my life. These six books have really made an imprint on me and hold a special place in my heart.
On this journey of motherhood and self-development finding books or a tribe to help you along the way are crucial and very beneficial. Usually, the first personal development books you read are the most impactful — I can agree with that — because it worked out that way for me.
After a while, you begin to notice certain sentiments being echoed in every book — in different ways. I’ve put together a list of six books that changed my life, expanded my mind, and caused me to look deep within myself to depths I didn’t even know existed.
6 Books That Changed My Life
Girl Code: Unlocking The Secrets to Success, Sanity, and Happiness for the Female Entrepreneur – Cara Alwill Leyba
This book is filled with confident successful women that made me feel like anything is possible. It’s as if Cara is sitting with you in your living room having a genuine heart-to-heart with you. Overall, what I took away from reading this book was to empower others, ditch the negativity, stop comparing yourself to others, leave jealousy at the door and remember, there’s no limit to success.
You Are A Badass – Jen Sincero
This book is both hilarious and oh so relatable. Jen Sincero gives you that tough love mixed with that I got your back friendship type vibe. My top takeaways from this book are both positive thinking and that kick in the booty we all need in our lives.
You need to play the part to get the part, meaning raise your frequency so the universe will recognize you’re open and ready for it and start sending opportunities your way. Open yourself up to the universe, meaning surrender yourself to the universe and trust with gratitude that everything will work out just fine.
Just do it already! There will never be a perfect time to start, so just start.
You’re Made For A God-Sized Dream – Holly Gerth
This book, oh my goodness, was the definite push I needed. Page after page left me wondering was she watching my life somewhere. Holly shares her heart, encouraging advice and a how-to cheering you on to follow the Lord’s lead all the while pursuing your dreams.
The Bomb Life – Claire Sulmers
Claire keeps it all the way real. She shares her authentic journey. She exposes the good, bad and the ugly. Her breaking points, embarrassing moments and wins. I learned lessons on how much your appearance matters, understanding and appreciating my self-worth, networking and that reoccurring theme of just jumping.
The 5 Love Languages – Gary Chapman
The 5 Love Languages book helped me look outward with my love instead of inward. It made me recognize how I myself feel love and that loving The Hubs in the same way I want to receive love might not be giving him the fullness of my love. This book opened my eyes to how to change the way I love to better fit his needs. Not only was this book eye-opening, but it was also practical. I was able to take what I learned and actually put it to work in order to better my relationship. As your relationship grows and changes this is definitely a book that can be read again and again with new reflection each time.
The book that rivals all. The number one book in all of America. Everything you want to know is written here. Want to learn how to love better? Struggling to find yourself? Being a mama seems to be a tad bit overwhelming? There’s a scripture, story, and lesson for it all. I read my Bible daily!
Have you read any of these books? What are your thoughts? Have you read any books that have changed your life? Let’s talk about it. I’d love some recommendations for some good reads.
