Happy New Year! Are people still saying that? This is my first blog post of 2018. I kind of took some time off towards the end of 2017 because I had gotten lost. I was lost in what I wanted to do, where I was headed and had lost all sight of my goals. It’s a new year and baby I’ve got goals that I’m not losing sight of this year. First things first, it’s time to get this 2018 vision board together! I made the big mistake last year that I’m more than positive a lot of you are making and that’s starting with big, audacious goals without taking into account where you are right now or what’s most important to us. I had to learn the hard way that before you can set yourself up for success, you have got to get your priorities together. Scared of having to sit down with your own thoughts and put yourself in check? Me too, but don’t worry girl just hold my hand.
Get Your Priorities Straight
This can mean a variety of different things for different people, but it all just boils down to some pretty basic stuff. You need to identify the key areas in your life that you want to focus on. Are you focusing on your health and wellness first quarter, business and credit second quarter, family third quarter, love in the fourth quarter, etc. BE CLEAR! Clarity is and will be your best friend. Once you gain clarity about what specific areas you want to work on, then you’ll start to live intentionally and on purpose.
How Do You Want To Be Remembered?
Now that you’ve gained clarity and are living intentionally it’s time to find your why. What’s driving you, pushing you, practically compelling you to get off your ass and do something? What do you want people to think about you? Now I’m not one to care about public opinion as in my experience whether good or bad people will ALWAYS have an opinion, but what do you want your lasting impression to be? What will you do to solidify your place in history? When you’re no longer here physically on this Earth what is that something that you’ll leave behind?
“I was here
I lived, I loved
I was here
I did, I’ve done everything that I wanted
And it was more than I thought it would be
I will leave my mark so everyone will know
I was here”
Create Your Vision
So far we’ve gained clarity, we’re living intentionally, know what footprints we’re leaving and now it’s time to create our vision. Now we’re going to do a goal breakdown. Now is the time for you to dream BIG! Negative Nancy that’s probably in your ear right now, tell that bitch to go sit in the corner we ain’t vibing with her right now. Be positive! Now is the time where you get to decide what type of year you want to have. Write it down and make it plain! Use words that resonate with you. Don’t write something down because you’ve heard or seen someone else do it. I made that mistake before and well I lost interest and lost sight of what I really wanted because it wasn’t written in MY words. Your 2018 vision board is just that YOUR vision for 2018!
Bring Your 2018 Vision Board To Life
So now it’s time to put this vision board together! I personally prefer to do it digitally using Canva. We’re going to head over to Pinterest and our favorite cousin Google and grab some images. If you’re old school and want to have a physical one, go ahead and grab your favorite magazines and get to clipping. Once you’ve got all your images it’s time to arrange them to fit YOUR vision. Don’t focus on whether it’s pretty or not, focus on the overall message. Your 2018 vision board should be just that, YOUR vision. Create something you’re proud of and make it visible! I like making a digital vision board because I can set it as my wallpaper on my computer, my home/lock screen on my phone and can always have it with me so that I don’t lose sight of what’s important.
I want 2018 to be both mine and your most prosperous year. I want it to be a year of winning, elevation, health improvements, financial gains, spiritual gains, and most of all HAPPINESS. Girl just hold my hand and we’re going to rock 2018 together!
