Just because you aren’t seeing results, right now, doesn’t mean you should stop. Put on your big girl panties and keep going, results are coming soon.
So true, but it’s also easier said than done. Nothing is harder than to remain motivated and upbeat than when you’re feeling defeated, when you’re feeling like nothing is going like you want it to go and everything around you is falling apart. It’s hard to stay positive when you’re sales are remaining at zero. It’s hard to feel inspired when you’ve received rejection email after rejection email in your inbox. It’s defeating when you’ve spent countless days in the gym and eating healthy only to see the scale not move and your clothes aren’t any looser.
So exactly how do you stay motivated when you’re not seeing results? What steps do you take when you’ve worked your ass off only to not see your dream being fulfilled? How do you show up and push when everything within you is screaming “Girl, you tried it, but uh don’t you think it’s time to hang up this dream?” I’m no expert, but I’ve been in pursuit of one dream or another since 2009. I’ve been successful, I’ve failed, I’ve been rejected, I’ve been accepted, and I’m still working towards a dream I’m GOING to see through to a reality. And I have a few tips to help you stay motivated when you’re not seeing results.
Take A Break
It’s ok to stop, step back and rest. Everything will eventually burn out if you keep it turned on all the time and yes this includes you. I know you’re pushing hard. I see you doing the dream work, not wanting to take a break for fear that someone will think you’re not truly dedicated to the end goal because you stopped for a while, but that is bullshit! Taking a break allows you to feel all the feels of what’s happening in your business and life, allows you to gain the clarity you need to keep pushing and to just take care of you.Take some time to recharge so you can come back and kick some major ass!Click To Tweet
I’ve stopped and stepped away from everything because I couldn’t see the finish line anymore. My vision wasn’t there anymore. It was cloudy and cluttered with what everyone else was doing. That’s when I realized it was time to step back and reassess my goals, my plan, and my strategy and then jump back into the game like I never left. Plan A may not be working, Plan B might not work either, you may not get to your goal until you’re at Plan Z. The point is to take some time to recharge so you can come back and kick some major ass!
Reconnect With Your Why
Why did you start your business in the first place? Was it to get out of debt? Was it just a fun project? Were you looking to become financially free? Whatever you “why” is it’s important to remain connected to it at all times. It’s especially important when you’re feeling down, or just a tad bit defeated to reconnect with your why. Sometimes we get discouraged because we lose sight of the very reason we got started in the first place. However, if you take a second and look back at your vision board, or you goal planner, or read some old inserts from your journal, you’ll find that extra push that you need to stay motivated.Finding your WHY is a process of discovering YOU, not reinventing yourself.Click To Tweet
Now I’ll be the first to tell you, between running this blog, family, and my business, I have my fair share of days where I’m like, “why am I doing this?” A sistah needs some balance and trust me I’m working hard to get there, although I’m slowly convincing myself that there’s no such thing as balance, but hey. I work so hard because I can see the vision God has for me so clearly. I can see Britt Harris becoming a platform for of inspiration for women who are made for a God sized dream and that’s why I don’t stop. That’s why I won’t stop when I don’t get my dream brand partnership, or when I don’t see my social media and email list growing like I want, or when I don’t have a million readers in a month, or a viral post, because I can see so much further than what’s happening right now. I am focused on my “why” and that’s what keeps me motivated when I’m not seeing major results.
Act Like Beyonce Until You Are Beyonce
I work as if I’m already running a Fortune 500 company, like I have millions in the bank and running a mega business. I work like I already won the race. Having this type of mindset has helped me detach myself from the win-lose mindset. Everyday I wake up before anyone else in the house, I read my Bible, I read some self development, workout, journal and say my affirmations. All positive things, all things that are going to keep me happy, positive and motivated.Put your blinders on and work on you.Click To Tweet
I don’t get wrapped up in not having the brand partnerships I want or whether or not my social media following is growing fast, because I know it’s only a matter of time before all of that starts to happen for me as long as I continue to show up and do the work!
Who can you channel you’re feeling defeated? For me, it’s Beyonce. She’s fierce, confident, poised, the ultimate feminist and all around just fabulous. Who is it for you? Beyonce? Oprah? Serena? When you’re one step away from giving up, what do you say? I always tell myself, “I’m the proud owner of a multi-million dollar company.” Actually that’s one of my affirmations I say and write everyday. Speak what you want into existence. Call it woo-woo or whatever you want to call it but it works. Try it.
When it’s all said and done, the point is to not let your strike out keep you out of the game. Get up, wake up and do the work, even if it’s the last thing you want to do. One day you’ll look up and see that your resilience was the one thing that got you to your dreams. Struggling to find that confidence you need? I got you boo, How To Gain Confidence As A Grown Ass Woman, chronicles my journey to finding and loving me and how you can do the same.
