My October 2017 Birchbox has finally arrived! Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription box that sends a curated box of 5 beauty and/or lifestyle related samples right to your door every month. It costs $10/month, but the samples you receive are valued so much more than that. This month’s theme is Behind The Scenes and gives off a sort of tropical vibe despite being in the throes of Fall completely.
I do have to a little bit of housekeeping. This post contains affiliate links, meaning I get a commission if you make a purchase using one of my links, BUT my opinions are entirely my own! I purchased this box with my own money and was not gifted a subscription by Birchbox.
First look inside the October 2017 Birchbox reveals 2 cards, one is the month’s detail card and the other is an October 2017 Birchbox announcement card. The detail card does just what it says, it gives the details of this month’s theme as well as the products that are included in the box. The announcement card states that the Birchbox Holiday Shop will be launching on November 2, 2017!
October 2017 Birchbox First Look!
Feast your eyes on these beauties…be jealous 🙂 This month I received products from Avène, Dr. Jart+, Eyeko, OUAI, Vera Bradley, and as a bonus Estee Lauder.
Avène Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Serum – $38 Full Size
Avène is a new brand to me. I’ve never used or heard of this brand, but I’m all about skincare and was excited to try this moisturizer. The formula was really light, and dried really fast. I’m happy to know the first ingredient is water, that is always a plus. I’ve been using this serum every night on my face for over a week and oh my goodness, my skin thanks me for it. I have combination skin and this product is amazing. I’ll definitely be buying the full-sized bottle.
Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse™ Ultimate Hydro Gel – $39 Full Size
Another new brand for me, but it definitely didn’t disappoint. Now I did my research before using it and read a lot of negative reviews but I loved it. It’s extremely moisturizing. It goes on really smooth and a little goes a long way. Even the small sample has lasted for a while. I use it right after washing my face at night and it makes my face feel soft and moist. I can’t see myself buying the full-sized version but I’d highly recommend it.
Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner – $22 ($18 on Amazon) Full Size
I’m married to certain makeup brands and I happen to be in a 5 year monogamous marriage with my Stila liquid liner, but this liner forced me to cheat. I can’t say that I fell in love, but I can say it was worth it. It went on smooth and worked well. The line wasn’t harsh and it definitely has staying power. I would recommend it, but I’m sticking with my Stila liner for now.
OUAI Rose Hair & Body Oil – $32 ($47.49 on Amazon) Full Size
I didn’t use this on my hair but I did use it as a body oil after showering. I’m a major fan of oils and this product was no different. It has a light, pure rose scent that isn’t too overbearing. I like the non-greasy feel of it. I would consider purchasing the full-size product for the winter months to help with my dry skin.
Vera Bradley Vanilla Sea Salt – $18 Full Size
I’m not much of a perfume person unless I’m going out with the family or on a date with the hubs. Usually, I just wear a scented lotion, but this Vera Bradley Vanilla Sea Salt perfume blew me away. The scent was absolutely breathtaking! It wasn’t overpowering which I liked a lot and it also lasted all day. I will definitely purchase the full-size product.
Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Envious – $32 Full Size
Loved the color, but the sample was so tiny. I have fuller, who am I kidding, big lips and the sample didn’t even allow for me to have a full application. But it was my bonus sample so I’m not complaining.
All in all the Behind the Scenes October 2017 Birchbox hit the mark for me. The small sample of the lipstick was a bit disappointing, but the rest of the products are great and I’ll use them all. I got a good, healthy mix of everything I like so this was a good month. No complaints! Interested in my past subscription box reviews?
