6 Ways To Avoid Stress and Burnout

Burnout is real! Whether it’s burnout from work, stress from a relationship, family, a health issue or pretty much anything else – burnout is never a good thing. I’m sharing 6 ways you can avoid burnout.

6 ways to avoid burnout

First, let’s get a clear definition of burnout. It’s not stress. Being stressed and burned out are two completely different things. Stress is often caused by overwhelm and usually lasts a short time. When you’re constantly experiencing stress, burnout can creep in. When there’s a disconnect between what you’re doing and what you desire to do, that’s when burnout comes in.

I want to help you get to the place where you feel inner peace and balance and not sliding down that slippery slope to burnout.

6 Ways To Avoid Burnout

  • Do something you love – do something that is aligned with your truth and your higher self. Ask yourself if what you’re currently doing is what you’re meant to do? Is this your purpose?
  • Meditate – I meditate every morning for at least 15 minutes and 15 minutes before I go to bed. I’m a happier person when I meditate. It allows me to relieve all of that stress when I’m connecting and looking inward. If you don’t have a meditation practice or are new to meditation, I recommend Insight Timer. It’s a a guided meditation app and helps to implement mediation into your life seamlessly.
  • Sleep – if you’re not getting 8 hours of quality sleep your body is running in overdrive and is more susceptible to illnesses. Make sleep a priority for you.
  • Unplug – take time each day to unplug for at least 30 minutes a day. That means no phone, no computer, no iPad.
  • Take a digital break – Take weekends or a dedicated day off from social media. I do NOT touch social media on Sundays. That’s my sacred time. It really helps me to enter the new week with vibrant, fresh, new energy. Use your weekend for rest and rejuvenation.
  • Move your body – For your mental and physical health, move your body for at least 30 minutes a day. Get outside in nature. The combination of movement and nature helps to release those feel good endorphins that help make you feel revitalized and energized.

Burnout is not good for you physically, mentally, spiritually or emotionally. You don’t have to get to that point! These are 6 ways that I avoid burnout. I really don’t want you to get to burnout, so pay attention to yourself and where you are emotionally. Treat yourself kindly and don’t overload your schedule or your stress levels.
