Choosing My Health — Regaining My Confidence

I adjusted my mindset. I implemented learned tactics. I tried new recipes. Now, it’s time to give you an update. Have I lost weight? Has my energy level improved? Am I sleeping better? Before I dive into my progress I want to share with you some things I’m loving about this diet. It’s easy to follow. Everything is simple, easy to follow, and in terms I understand. I know you’re wondering since this isn’t a traditional diet, are there meal plans provided, is there a point system? How do you keep track of it all? Well, there is a meal plan provided and it’s really simple. It’s so simple in fact, you can get started with the food you already have in your kitchen. No running to the grocery store with a ridiculous list to stock up. 

But what I like the most is that he debunks so many myths we were taught by other diets. He debunks myths around carb intake, intermittent fasting and even eating breakfast! There’s just so much goodness in this book!

Okay, okay, I’m done gushing about the book. Now, on to my progress update. My number one goal was to lose this mom pooch. I am proud to say that I’ve lost 6lbs — not quite Joel’s 12, but it’s progress! And my husband noticed, which gave me a little confidence boost. I’ve been intermittent fasting, implementing the 3-Minute Fat-Burning Morning Ritual and drinking a gallon of water daily.

My energy level has improved tremendously. I used to want to nap at least twice a day. Running around outside with my kids for 10 minutes would have me wanting to just sit or go back inside because I was just too tired to keep up. Well, I can now say that I’m playing outside with my kids everyday and not in a rush to get back inside. I’m also walking 2 miles daily now!

With all this new found energy and even working out 5 times a week now, has this had any effect on my sleep? Short answer, yes! I’m noticing that my body starts to shut itself down a little earlier than usual, I’m falling asleep faster and staying asleep longer. I track my sleep with an app and according to the app, my quality of sleep has improved. 

I’m absolutely loving all of the progress I’ve experienced so far and the recipes are delicious too! I have a major sweet tooth and my favorite recipe so far has been the No-Bake Salted Caramel Bars. Who knew something so tasty could actually be good for you.
